Jessica Gomez, M.D.

Jessica Gomez, M.D. Born and raised in San Diego, Dr. Gomez received her BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and earned Provost Honors from UC San Diego. She received her Medical Degree at UCLA School of Medicine. She attended the University of Minnesota for her ophthalmology residency. Dr. Gomez completed a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine where she received training at multiple large hospitals throughout Houston. She also served as a clinical instructor at the largest and busiest VA Hospital Eye Clinic in the United States.  

Dr. Gomez has been involved in research that has led to multiple publications in peer reviewed medical journals. She has also written a book chapter on the management of eye infections, as well as a review on macular hole surgery in collaboration with leaders in the retina community. She is especially proud of the real world application of her research, including a paper she wrote regarding strategies to improve patient comfort during intravitreal eye injections. 

During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, surfing and paddleboarding. She practices yoga daily and is currently learning to speak French. 

Dr. Gomez joined Inland Valley Retina in 2025. She is a fluent Spanish speaker. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist and specializes in medical and surgical disorders including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal vein occlusions and uveitis.
